Global Trade Compliance & International Logistics Manager

About This RoleWe seek a resourceful, self-motivated candidate with expertise in global trade compliance and international logistics to join the Apeel Sciences Operations Team. The Global Trade Compliance & International Logistics Manager will ensure Apeel complies with global import and export regulations, manage international shipments within the Americas, support shipments globally,, and cultivate relationships with 3rd party logistics partners.What You'll Do Perform product classifications or coordinate third-party classification of products under the Harmonized Tariff System or the Department of Commerce Stay up to date with import/export regulations as they pertain to our supply chain Create and maintain documented procedures for all import/export processes to ensure Apeel stays up to date with trade compliance regulations Conduct risk-based analysis of import/export shipments for risk mitigation Manage relationships with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and similar 3rd party providers Evaluate the need for new logistics partners and foster new relationships Develop and analyze internal and carrier KPIs, logistic dashboards, and reports Identify trends and recommend corrective action as required. In collaboration with team, develop and provide periodic executive summaries Develop and conduct training for import/export processes to improve awareness of customs valuation, classification, Incoterms and origin concepts among Apeel associates Coordinate international shipments from booking to delivery, including manual documentation creation and ensuring timely and cost-effective transport Support the integration into new regions through research of trade requirements and provide recommendations of process changes due to new trade restrictions Use past experience and sound judgment to provide guidance on global trade compliance regulations Conduct RFP/RFQ's on Assist in developing strong relationships with carriers and third-party logistics service providers to ensure capacity, high service levels, and optimal pricing Professionally resolve import or export issues with brokers, agencies, and vendors as they arise Perform trade compliance activities as they pertain to Apeel's supply chain What You Bring Experience in US imports/exports and imports into non-US entities, with a focus on LATAM Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Brokerage license, brokerage experience, and auditing experience are advantageous Extensive experience in classifying harmonized tariff codes and ECCNs Experience building/leading a global trade compliance program Strong organizational and multitasking skills Effective interpersonal and collaboration abilities Capacity to make decisions amid uncertainty Advanced analytical skills Commitment to professionalism and courtesy in communications Ability to interpret government regulations Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 10%) Advanced experience with MS Excel and a fast adopter of other software tools (e.g. Oracle, Jira, Slack) 5
years of experience in logistics within trade compliance Bachelor's Degree preferred or extensive experience in a related field (corporate trade compliance or global customs brokerage) Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred Our total rewards packages may include comprehensive health plans, 401k matching, equity, flexible PTO, sick leave, paid parental leave, and more! Compensation for this role is expected to be between $115,000 and $140,000.
