BENEFITS THE POSITION The Certification and Operations Division of the Santa Barbara Airport is currently recruiting for an Airport Operations Technician.
The Airport Operations Technician serves as the Division's administrative and clerical representative for Airport Operations and Airport Patrol and is responsible for assisting the Airport Operations Manager with technical and administrative support and special projects.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in administrative support, clerical tasks, finance, and technical knowledge of airport operations.
A sample of the duties performed by this position include:
provide on-going support to the Airport Operations Manager; accept and process permits and license applications, including but not limited to Ground Transportation Permits, Airport ID access media, AOA driving rights, aircraft tie downs, independent operators, special events, and other permits issued by the Airport Department; issue Airport ID badges, complete required training and maintain TSA Trusted Agent Certification or other training as required; issue Ground Transportation Permits, maintain the Commercial Ground Transportation Program filing system, provide notifications to permit holders, and respond to public and permittee inquiries regarding permits; accept and process Notice of Violations (NOV), maintain NOV database to include tracking and processing of fee payment; conduct investigations, audits, and other administrative tasks as they relate to the preparation of written reports for management; maintain administrative records and files pertaining to department functions, badge office records, accounts payable, budgeting, accounts receivable, and lost and found; prepare bank deposits, audit invoices, Division time sheets, statements, requisitions, financial reports, and investigate discrepancies; assist Division personnel with a variety of tasks including the typing of correspondence, forms, memos, transcripts, statistical statements, reports and legal documents from written or recorded sources, and proofread information; coordinate and schedule facility reservations, meetings, appointments, travel arrangements, and process claim receipts; assist in training staff; explain and/or interpret information on policies and procedures; answer the telephone and assist the public and employees in a courteous manner.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS Knowledge of:
English usage, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and basic mathematical principles; computer programs including Windows and Microsoft Office; data management systems; records maintenance and filing; telephone etiquette; operational characteristics of an airport.
Ability to:
Operate a personal computer; input and retrieve information from a computer terminal; maintain a complex record keeping system; interact with various agencies in a professional and courteous manner; communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing; prepare presentations; maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following:
walking, standing, climbing, or sitting for extended periods of time and operating assigned equipment; maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for:
making observations, communicating with others, reading and writing, operating assigned equipment and vehicles.
License Requirements:
Possession of a valid California Driver's License.
Work Schedule:
Incumbents must be available to work a 9/80 workweek.
Regular shift hours are Monday through Friday.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
